“Mid Atlantic Beauty is a family-owned company dedicated to the success of salon, barber & spa professionals across the DMV region. Rooted in hard work, trust, and personal relationships, we proudly continue the legacy of our founder, Joseph Culotta (Joe Sr.).
Born in Sicily, Italy in 1928, Joe Sr. immigrated to the United States in 1958 after building a life in Argentina. Driven by the American dream and the entrepreneurial spirit—along with the values of faith, family and honest labor—he launched his own venture in 1962 from humble beginnings, selling RK by Redken from the driver’s seat of his delivery truck. He served local barbers’ door-to-door, building lasting relationships one stop at a time. In 1972, he opened his first store in the Baltimore area. By 1977, he had acquired a local beauty and barber distributorship and expanded into a full-service salon supplier, offering quality name-brand products; Redken, Sebastion, education, and equipment throughout Maryland, Washington D.C., and Virginia marketplaces. Over the decades, multiple store locations followed in the Baltimore metro area.
Known for his generous spirit, Joe Sr. consistently gave back to the community, supporting causes close to his heart such as the “March of Dimes” for many years. His commitment to helping others reflected the same integrity and compassion he brought to every business relationship.
Today, as a family-owned business operating under the leadership of his three sons — Joe Jr, Tony, and Rob — we honor that legacy with personalized service and long-term partnerships.
